Safety is one of our greatest priorities, which is why volunteers must be at least 16 years old to work on our construction sites. But because we welcome everyone in our community to join us in our mission, regardless of age, we invite young supporters to contribute in other ways.

Involving youth with Habitat East Bay

Host a house party
It's easy and fun to raise awareness and funds for Habitat for Humanity East Bay. Invite between 10 and 30 guests (neighbors, family, friends of parents, and parents of friends are good people to ask!) over to your house and distribute information and request donations. No donation is too big or too smallh, so even younger people can donate $5 from their allowance. Every dollor counts!

Serve Lunch at one of our Sites
This is a great way to support volunteers and staff on a Habitat for Humanity work site. Working on the construction site is hard work and often a good meal is just the encouragement a volunteer needs to really succeed! Join together with your class or youth group to do this. Student groups provide a hearty meal for approximately 50 volunteers and deliver it to the construction site during the build day.

Coffee Hosts
We are seeking an individual or group that would be willing to bring coffee to the construction site in the morning for our hard-working volunteers. You provide the coffee, make it and bring it to site in the morning.

Host an event at your church/school/community center
Do you have a special talent? Host a concert, play or other event at your church. This is a great chance for families to join together to raise awareness about issues of affordable housing in their greater community.

Collect Goods
Soda Cans: Recruit a group of friends to collect aluminum cans at your school, at your faith center, or in your neighborhood. Bring the cans to your local recycling center, collect the cash and donate it to Habitat East Bay. We'll use your hard-earned cash to purchase building materials for the houses.

Used BART tickets with small values remaining: Tiny tickets are BART tickets that still have monetary value on them. Turn in your tiny tickets at the construction site or mail them to the office. Habitat East Bay can eschange these for the cash value of the ticket.
