Ed Jaramillo
Ed is one of East Bay Habitat's most loyal volunteers. He has contributed over 800 hours of volunteer service building homes on the 105th Ave, Fremont, Crockett, Fruitvale, and West Oakland sites. In the words of another volunteer and friend, "he takes on whatever task there is to be done, he's reliable, unflappable and just an all around nice guy." Thank you Ed for your dedicated service to EBHfH.
How long have you been with East Bay Habitat?
Since the 1996 Build-a-Thon.
What brought you to Habitat?
I became interested in one of the local Build-a-Thons I saw on a local news station. I was curious to see how unskilled volunteers could accomplish so much framing. It always amazes me how skillful the staff is in organizing and leading volunteers.
What motivates you to continue to volunteer with Habitat?
I enjoy coming out and working with the small group of regular volunteers, site staff members and most of all the new homeowners.
What have been your most memorable experiences on the job site?
I enjoy working with the homeowners and seeing their excitement as the building progresses. Also attending the homeowner dedications.
If you could be any tool on the construction site what tool would you be?
A compound miter saw, because it has lots of flexibility.
What is your favorite job on site?
Framing during the Build-a-Thons and seeing the construction rapidly progress over a short few days. The atmosphere and energy put out during the Build-a-Thons is exciting.
