Committees and other volunteer opportunities
Habitat for Humanity East Bay depends on volunteers on and off the construction site. Consider joining a committee or contributing in other ways. Make a difference... Without the splinters and pounded thumbs.
Family Selection Committee
Help select HEB's newest partner families. Especially seeking bi-lingual volunteers or volunteers with financial analysis background. Contact the Homeowner Relations Department at 510-251-6304 x 365.
The Family Resource Committee
The Family Resource Committee includes several volunteer and staff teams that assist partner families after they move into their Habitat homes. The Community Building Team works with homeowners to organize community building activities in their neighborhoods. The College Trak team works with high school aged Habitat students to prepare them for the future. The New Family Development team works on educational workshops with topics of interest to Habitat families.
Past FRC projects have included neighborhood watch groups and block parties, youth tours of Google and Yahoo, youth community service and college-prep activities, and a quarterly homeowner newsletter. Contact the Homeowner Relations Department at 510-251-6304 x365 or click here to read more.
Speakers Bureau
Do you enjoy speaking with others about what you are passionate about? Help us spread the word about Habitat! Volunteers are needed to attend tabling events and to speak at schools, community and faith organizations. Contact Sue Howell at 510-251-6304 x313.
Community and Government Relations Committee (Tri-Valley & Central Contra Costa County)
HEB occasionally looks for participants to join its Community and Government Relations sub-committees in Tri-Valley or Central Contra Costa County. The goal of these committees is to advocate for HEB's project needs (current and future projects) through our network of community and local government relations, and to also assist with identifying and analyzing potential site acquisition opportunities. Please contact Natalie at 510-251-6304 x372 or nmonk@habitateb.org, and provide a current resume.
The Green Team
Habitat for Humanity East Bay has made a commitment to building "green". The four-home Fruitvale development started in 2002 was our first successful endeavor in green building and we have since completed a 22-home green development in Livermore. We are currently building a 54-home green development in Oakland and an eight-home green development in Alameda. The homes incorporate environmentally-sustainable design, sustainable and recycled building materials, and passive and active solar energy features.
The Green Team is a committee of staff and volunteers who assist HEB's green efforts by researching new materials, construction techniques and design. The committee also helps track the success of our past green developments. Contact Aaron Preman at 510-251-6304 x354.
Graphic Designers, Newsletter Designers, Photographers and Videographers Needed
HEB needs artists of all kinds to create promotional literature, including brochures, display boards, posters, and t-shirts. We are in need of a professional photographer to donate services for HEB's Annual Report. Newsletter designers are also needed to produce our bi-annual mailing (must have access to a Mac computer and Quark software). We can always use creative photo and video projects for marketing too. Volunteer for special events or on an ad hoc basis. Contact
Krysta Morgenthaler at 510-251-6304 x310.

Work in the Habitat Office / Data Entry Specialist Needed!

Consider making a donation to Habitat for Humanity East Bay
In order to build more homes, we need funds to secure land and building materials. More construction projects will generate more opportunities to volunteer.
