About the Funds You Will Raise...
The Earth Day Build-A-Thon is a very special fundraising event designed to involve the community in our fundraising efforts, so that we can purchase building materials in order to continue providing homes for families in the East Bay. In order for this event to be successful, participants must raise at least $200 for each day they would like to attend.
We offer opportunities to volunteer on our constrution site throughout the year, and fundraising is not required for these volunteer days. If you prefer not to fundraise but would like to contribute your time to volunteering with us, please plan to volunteer with us during one of these regular volunteer days. We will be glad to have your help.
But the Build-A-Thon is no ordinary volunteer day. The Build-A-Thon, like other pledge-a-thons, is an opportunity for Habitat supporters to invite their friends and family to join them in their work with Habitat. Participants share their exciting ambitions and ask for support in return. While walking or biking in support of an organization indirectly furthers the cause, by building at Habitat, you will be directly contributing to a solution!
Asking 10 friends to contribute $20 each will raise enough funds to attend one day of the event! Feel welcome to make a personal contribution as well, if you feel so moved, to help reach your goal.
This event is for you, whether you are a long-time volunteer or somebody who has has never volunteered on a Habitat construction site before. If you are a long-time volunteer, this is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to Habitat in another meaningful way. If you have never before volunteered but have always wanted to, this is your chance to catch the Habitat fever. Please join us!
While this four-day event will kick off the framing of these homes, plenty of work will remain to complete them. We will need hundreds of volunteers working throughout the remainder of 2009 in order to complete the homes! By continuing to volunteer, you can help finish the houses that you began.
