Global Investment Program

Habitat East Bay is making a difference here and abroad as a participant in the Habitat Global Investment program. We are one of only 6 other U.S. affiliates to have tithed over $1 million to sister affiliates abroad - enough to build 451 homes abroad.

The HFHI Global Investment program calls on local affiliates to send 10% of all unrestricted funding to support the building of homes overseas. The funding that we send has a profound impact on families that – like our own partner families – simply need the opportunity to build a place to call their own and the brighter future that comes with it.

We currently invest our unrestricted fundraising to Afghanistan, Tanzania and El Salvador. Click on the links to learn more about the Habitat affiliates in these countries.

Participation in the Global Investment program is not compulsory if you donate to Habitat East Bay. Using donations as donors intend is of utmost importance to us. For that reason, if you would like your entire gift to be used locally, simply let us know, or restrict your donation to a specific East Bay development (Oakland, Alameda, Bay Point, Richmond, Tri-Valley, Concord, etc.).

Global Village Trips

In May of 2010, Habitat East Bay staff and volunteers traveled to El Salvador on a Global Village trip led by Habitat staffer, Jen Golike and her husband, Joe Golike.

El Salvador Habitat, one of our current global investment partners abroad, was thrilled to further solitify the relationship with Habitat East Bay.  It was also a great opportunity for Habitat East Bay to show our committment to ensuring the success of our partners' efforts abroad to provide decent, affordable housing abroad.
