Edes Avenue Dedication On December 8th, 12 partner families received the keys to their new homes during a celebration ceremony that included entertainment by singer/songwriter Miko Marks and games and activities for children. The community gathered together to share in the joy and celebrate the accomplishments of the partner families. These 12 families joined six families who moved into the Habitat East Bay community last year. Habitat East Bay's Women's Crew Raises $5,000 at Lowe's Grand Opening To celebrate their partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the grand opening of their newest store in Dublin, Lowe’s matched, dollar for dollar, every gift card purchased last Thursday, December 20th at the Dublin store with a donation to Habitat East Bay. Members of the Habitat East Bay's Women's Crew welcomed shoppers, educated them about the work Habitat is doing in the community and encouraged them to buy gift cards. Thanks to the many women who coordinated this event and to Lowe's who will generously donate $5,000 to Habitat East Bay! Gingerbread Houses for HabitatOn December 1, Habitat East Bay supporters decorated houses and cookies, enjoyed refreshments, and had their photos taken with their creations. This fundraising event benefited Habitat for Humanity East Bay, enabling more deserving families with children to have a home of their own this holiday season. Thank you to our friends at St. Mary's Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Hill for hosting the event. 2007 Gala - "Building a Future"On Saturday, September 22nd at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, more than 350 volunteers, friends and supporters joined together in support of Habitat East Bay's mission of revitalizing neighborhoods by providing affordable homeownership opportunities. ABC News Anchor Dan Ashley presided as Master of Ceremonies, with live music by Bob Athayde and his Surefire Band. Auctioneer David Reynolds presented fabulous auction items, including a magical mini mansion playhouse and trips to Hawaii and the Mediterranean. Event sponsors were vital to the success of the event, which raised more than $175,000.
Antioch Development Dedication! On Saturday, July 21st, nearly 100 Habitat for Humanity East Bay volunteers, supporters and homeowners along with City officials, including Mayor Donald Frietas and corporate sponsors gathered to hand keys to two new homeowners at the site known as West Rivertown in Antioch. The dream of homeownership became a reality for the two families as they moved into their new homes surrounded by their new friends and neighbors. Read more about the event. 2007 Earth Day Build-A-Thon Eight new homes have risen from the ground up and are now capped with roof trusses. Among them are the "House that Cal Built", the Womens Build home and the Thrivent Builds homes. Many thanks to the participants for their outstanding support. Click here for photos of the event and for the grand total of your fundraising contributions! 2007 Livermore Dedication On Saturday, February 24th, 2007 over 200 friends of Habitat, volunteers, Habitat employees, city officials and Habitat partner families joined to celebrate the dedication of the final phase of the 22-home "Green" Freeda Court development. Homeowners were presented with the keys to their new homes, a hammer and a book of faith. All the Livermore homeowners shared different stories about their experiences during the process, but all expressed commitment and gratitude for this momentous event in their lives. Read more about the dedication celebration. 2006 Alameda Ground Breaking On December 12th, 2006 Habitat for Humanity East Bay, the Alameda Development Corporation (ADC), Alameda city officials, donors and volunteers gathered to break ground on an affordable housing development where a vacant car wash once stood. The collaborative effort between ADC and Habitat East Bay will be a eight-home "green" development. The ceremony symbolized the formation of a new partnership in Alameda. Both groups invited the crowd to particpate in building a stronger community one wall at a time. Learn more about the Buena Vista Commons. See more pictures. 2006 Builders Ball Celebration The Builders Ball was held on October 28th, 2006 at the Claremont Resort & Spa in Berkeley. The event was a complete success with over 200 people in attendance generously donating over $50,000 to help build more affordable housing in the East Bay. 2006 Home Builders Blitz On May 15th, 2006 Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country participated in the Home Builders Blitz. The event partners builders, manufacturers and Habitat affiliates in an effort to build 100 homes from the ground up in just a few short weeks! Locally, Habitat for Humanity East Bay partnered with Pulte Homes and KB Home to build 6 green homes at the Edes Avenue development in East Oakland.
