Habitat for Humanity East BayThis development, created in partnership with the Crockett Community Foundation, consists of six new homes located in downtown Crockett. Crockett is a small town built on the south bank of the Carquinez Strait nestled between industries and steep hills at the foot of the I-80 bridge to Vallejo. The project provides six homes to very low-income residents of Crockett and western Contra Costa County, while also helping spur the revitalization of an older town struggling with the lack of new investment. The partner families for this development have all completed 500 hours of sweat equity building thier own homes and the homes of their new neighbors. All six homes were framed during East Bay Habitat's Independence Day Build-A-Thon in July 2002. The homes are all completed and the dedication was held on Sunday, June 1, 2003.
