Service with Habitat for Humanity East Bay

Habitat for Humanity East Bay hosts AmeriCorps members through the National Direct, VISTA, VIP, and LISC programs. Positions are available on the construction site and in the office, and support our construction, volunteer, and project management programs.  In 2011-2012, additional members of our Service Corps team will be funded by Habitat East Bay and serve in our volunteer and homeowner programs.

Meet the 2011-2012 Service Team

Positions

For our 2011-2012 term of service, we will be hosting the following positions, all of which are filled:

• Construction Crew Leaders (National Direct)
• Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative Community Outreach Coordinator (National Direct) 
• Renovations Programs Specialist (VISTA)

In addition to AmeriCorps positions, we have two other service positions in 2011-2012. These positions are not federally funded, like AmeriCorps, but are similarly service-oriented, one-year positions with Habitat East Bay, through our HabiCorps program.  HabiCorps members receive equivalent compensation to AmeriCorps members.  We are currently hosting HabiCorps members in the following positions, both of which are filled:

• Homeowner Relations Coordinator
• Volunteer Coordinator

History

In 1994, Habitat for Humanity International and the AmeriCorps National Service Program partnered to mobilize more volunteers in the fight against poverty housing. Habitat East Bay has hosted AmeriCorps members since 1997, and we have one of the largest Habitat AmeriCorps teams in the country.
