Fremont Development

Project Description

East Bay Habitat for Humanity started the construction of three new homes in Fremont November 2001. This project was a collaboration with Eden Housing and the City of Fremont. Eden was the master developer of seventeen affordable homes and Habitat was responsible for three of them. The homes fill an entire block at the eastern end of Adams Avenue near Fremont Blvd, and are clustered around courtyards to use the land more efficiently. This has been the first joint venture of East Bay Habitat with another nonprofit developer. The City of Fremont provided funds to pay for the land and infrastructure. The Planning Commission and City Council of Fremont approved the project enthusiastically and city officials have been very supportive and excited about having Habitat there.

The De La Torres, The Loma-Yindjas and the Adairs have all completed their sweat equity hours helping to build their own homes.
